a ladder of legos

it goes on forever
to the horizon on all sides
heavy flat uniformly bland
one does not wade here
though in to the shoulders
treading slowly in quicksand
there is no escape
move quickly and sink
be still and be covered
in formless flat all around
pressing unchanging pressure
makes breathing exhausting
with steady endless movements
at least not going down
accomplishing survival
pointlessly hoping
for what
