the contractive tendency of hope

November 7, 2012

i don’t want it
to be naive
or frightening
but it is hard, so hard.
look closely at the glass…
is it possible that it is slightly more than half empty?
does that mean a bit less than half full? or…
…i need an idea / belief
that is more subtle than knocking it off the table –
smashing it just to relieve the tension.

are you an optimist?
i’m a half full but with a convex meniscus sort of guy.
oh, don’t be cute.

In a hurry, I misread the title as the “contraceptive” tendency of hope–so glad I took time to go back and re-read!
